Easter Week Treasure Hunt Monday 14th April 2014

A few of our staff will be participating in the Flora Mini Marathon, while a couple more will be trying to go the Hell and Back. These events are in preparation for the 2014 SummerFest, which we hope to make bigger and better than 2013. Throughout August we will be sporting our very own summer festival, in keeping with the celebrations that are going on all over Bray at the minute click here for the complete timetable. All family and friends are welcome to join us in our various activities, especially the night at the races, the fashion show and Karaoke, the night at the pub, the sports day and the picnic. In response to the amazing weather that we are having and that Bray Festival is on at the minute, we are had a dress up day, were all the staff put on their shorts and t-shirts for the day. In proper Irish tradition, the house was green, the Irish music was playing and the Guinness was flowing. It was another great day, as we watched the St. Patrick’s parade march right passed us along the seafront.Karaoke Night Friday 15th March 2013

Christmas Mass December 2012
We all assisted Fr. John in celebrating our Christmas mass, a week before the actual day. The sitting room was full with friends and families of all our residents (both present and past) enjoying the afternoon and the mince pies after. We also enjoyed a bit of sing-along with special guest Rob when the Mass was over. This year was a little different. We had the party a week before the mass, to spread out the celebrations. The party as always was a great day. Choling and Barbara had prepared a feast for us all and DJ Sid was in the house. There were games and quizzes, and of course the most important…Santa Clause made a visit with a special gift for all our residents.Advent December 2012
Throughout December we will have specific activities on certain nights, according to our Advent calendar, made specially by Melissa and Aoife. Last year we began a new tradition and this year we jazzed it up a little. Instead of going all around Dublin, our residents took a scenic trip to Dun Laoghaire, coming home through Dalkey and Killiney. On their return, Melissa and Barbara had the dining room decorated, the mince pies heated and the mulled wine tested. It was a feast to behold. The only evidence of the mince pies was the crumbs left behind and not a drop of mulled wine was spared. It was a great night had by all.Feast of All Souls Tuesday 6th November 2012
Fr. John will celebrate the feast of All Souls, when we remember all those we have lost throughout the year. Families and friends of those who have passed away join in with this Mass celebration. The residents went on tour again. We all put on our glad rags and went to the Theatre to see Robinson Crusoe and the Caribbean Pirates. The Gaiety didn’t know what hit it! Another great night was had by all, probably most of all the staff that went. Thanks to Pauline, Anne, Aoife, Michelle and Christine. This year’s Christmas party proved to be as successful as all our previous years. We had something new on our menu this year…our Alternative Nativity Play. And it proved to be a great addition to the program. Thanks to all how participated in making it a great day, including the cast of the play, Sid and Ritche for their “dance” and DJ Sid for providing the music for the day. Also a big thanks to the kitchen staff who went above and beyond with the grub on the day. We all took a trip around Dublin in our first Christmas Lights Tour. We drove all around the city, gazing at the lights down Grafton and all the way up O’Connell. We even made it around the O2, or the Point as many of our residents remember it. It was a great evening and the residents had a great time telling stories of the days gone by in Dublin as well as spotting all the changes. As many of you may have known (and taken part in), we did an Easter raffle this year in order to raise money for a new AED machine. We managed to raise 455.00 and we would like to thank everyone who got involved. Our winner was our very own Shireen, who walked away with the big hamper.. CONGRATULATIONS everyone, we managed to raise over 700 euro in February and this money has already gone to good use. Some residents already have visited the cinema in Dundrum and today many went for morning tea and coffee. So a BIG thank you to all the staff who fasted - Stephen, Smitha, Shanida, Shireen, Louise, Ileana, Margaret, Jessica, Ritchie, Michelle, Maria, Chryl and Jennifer, to all of you who sponsored our fasters and those who indulged in our tasty treats. Earlier this month we saw four of our residents make the road trip to Dundrum where they attended the cinema for the screening of The Kings Speech and then hit the shops for a bit of retail therapy. Shannagh Bays very own newsletter, The Bay Times, will launch its first publication on Monday 21st February, 2011. Copies will be left around the nursing home for everyone to read. We are currently working on Marchs issue so if anyone would like to participate and send in stories we would love to read them.
