Christmas Mass December 2012

We all assisted Fr. John in celebrating our Christmas mass, a week before the actual day. The sitting room was full with friends and families of all our residents (both present and past) enjoying the afternoon and the mince pies after. We also enjoyed a bit of sing-along with special guest Rob when the Mass was over. Merry Christmas to Everyone and we hope you have a fantastic New Year!.

Annual Christmas Party Tuesday 20th December 2012

This year was a little different. We had the party a week before the mass, to spread out the celebrations. The party as always was a great day. Choling and Barbara had prepared a feast for us all and DJ Sid was in the house. There were games and quizzes, and of course the most important…Santa Clause made a visit with a special gift for all our residents.

Advent December 2012

Throughout December we will have specific activities on certain nights, according to our Advent calendar, made specially by Melissa and Aoife. It hangs in the dining room, and each day one of our residents opens the doors to see what is happening that days.

Annual Christmas Lights Tour Monday 5th December 2012

Last year we began a new tradition and this year we jazzed it up a little. Instead of going all around Dublin, our residents took a scenic trip to Dun Laoghaire, coming home through Dalkey and Killiney. On their return, Melissa and Barbara had the dining room decorated, the mince pies heated and the mulled wine tested. It was a feast to behold. The only evidence of the mince pies was the crumbs left behind and not a drop of mulled wine was spared. It was a great night had by all.

Another great night was had by all, probably most of all the staff that went. Thanks to Pauline, Anne, Aoife, Michelle and Christine. And thanks to the Gardai who gave us a personal escort right up to the door and permission to park right outside the door!

And it proved to be a great addition to the program. Thanks to all how participated in making it a great day, including the cast of the play, Sid and Ritche for their “dance” and DJ Sid for providing the music for the day. Also a big thanks to the kitchen staff who went above and beyond with the grub on the day. Have a great Christmas everyone and we will see you in the New Year!

Christmas Lights Tour Monday 5th December 2011

We all took a trip around Dublin in our first Christmas Lights Tour. We drove all around the city, gazing at the lights down Grafton and all the way up O’Connell. We even made it around the O2, or the Point as many of our residents remember it. It was a great evening and the residents had a great time telling stories of the days gone by in Dublin as well as spotting all the changes. It really got us in the spirit of Christmas…next up our Christmas Party!!!!
