All our rooms within Shannagh Bay are fully furnished to ensure our residents comfort. Each room has an en-suite and is equipped with a profiling electric bed including pressure relieving mattresses if required.

Catering

Our emphasis is fresh and home cooked food, thus ensuring nutritional and appetizing meals for all our residents. Our chefs meet with the residents and their families every 3 months or as required to discuss their food preferences.

In conjunction with this referrals are made to our dietician to ensure more vulnerable residents receive adequate nutritional requirements. Here in Shannagh Bay we endeavour to give our resident as much choice as is reasonable possible. This includes what they wish to eat during meal times to the time they wish to eat at.

Menus

We currently have a four week menu which will alternate for 6 months, before being reviewed and updated by our chefs, according to the likes and dislikes of our residents. All residents will be consulted on any changes and are asked for their input into the creation of the menus. A sample of some of the dishes on our menus can be found below. We also have a specials board so that residents are given further daily choices. Each day residents have access to home baked biscuits, scones, cakes and bread. We also cater for coelics, diabetics and vegetarians. Tea/coffee/homemade soup and minerals are available throughout the day.

Main Courses
  • Thai stir fry pork with ginger and coriander and rice / potatoes.
  • Roast chicken with sage cream sauce, mange touts, carrots and mashed or boiled potatoes.
  • Pan grill steak with grainy mustard butter, scallion and horseradish mash.
  • Salmon on lemon and herb risotto.
Desserts
  • Meringue nest with summer berries and cream chantily.
  • Chocolate and strawberry tiramisu.
  • Apple pie with custard or cream.
Tea
  • Fish with home-made chips, roast tomatoes and leaf salad.
  • Homemade tomato soup and brown bread.
  • Salmon fish cakes with spring onions and warm potato salad.
Supper
  • Banana cake.
  • Muffins.
  • Selection of sandwiches .
